Regulatory Summary
2006: The Hawaiian Public Utilities Commission (PUC) held hearings on competitive bidding for new generation and distributive generation.

10/03: The Hawaiian PUC opened up a hearing for competitive bidding for new generation.

4/99: The Hawaii PUC has an open docket(Docket No. 96-0493) on electric power industry restructuring, but no recent action on this case has occurred.

1997: PUC began to develop a draft restructuring plan and a formal investigation into the issues. 

12/96: PUC began investigating competition in the electric power industry. A report is expected by 10/98.
