American Gas Association: Natural Gas Industry Gathers to Promote Safety

    October 7, 2021 - Contify Energy News

Kissimmee, Florida, Oct. 4 -- American Gas Association issued the following news release:

The natural gas industry's premier gathering of utility and transmission company operators across North America and the world is occurring this week. With multiple layers of COVID protocols and protections in place, the 2021 American Gas Association Operations Conference and Exhibition brings the natural gas industry together for the sharing of technical knowledge, ideas, and practices to promote the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of natural gas.

The conference includes events to recognize natural gas utility employees for their contributions to safe operations, natural gas companies that have achieved high levels of employee and vehicular safety, and natural gas utility employees that showed bravery and compassion in the protection of human life. In addition, the AGA Safety Awareness Video Excellence (SAVE) Award recognizes outstanding contributors to natural gas communications safety and education. You can view a list of award recipients here(https://www.aga.org/globalassets/aga-2021-awardsreview-v3.pdf).

“The safety of our customers and communities is the top priority for America’s natural gas utilities and we are proud to honor these men and women who have gone above and beyond to not only deliver essential energy, but to protect their neighbors in times of need,” said American Gas Association President and CEO Karen Harbert.

The Operations Conference is AGA's largest forum with more than 1500 operations management leaders in attendance, including over 100 speakers and technical presentations that cover a variety of topics, such as gas measurement, operations advocacy, safety, environment, storage, engineering, construction and maintenance, gas control, supplemental gas, corrosion control and plastic materials. The accompanying exhibition, held every other year, attracts over 200 domestic/international vendors occupying more than 50,000 square feet of exhibit space.

The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 76 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 95 percent — more than 72 million customers — receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets more than thirty percent of the United States' energy needs.
