January 24 (Renewables Now) - UK renewables developer Anesco Ltd has put on stream 56 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity on behalf of Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions in the Netherlands.
Three solar plants have started generating power for the energy subsidiary of oil and gas major Royal Dutch Shell Plc (AMS:RDSA), Anesco said on Friday.
The UK firm installed a 12-MWp system in a former gasworks area in Emmen, in the northeastern province of Drenthe. Another facility of 14 MWp was built for Shell in the town of Heerenveen, in the province of Friesland. The third and largest of all arrays is a 30-MWp plant located on a former industrial site in Sas Van Gent, Zeeland province.
Anesco will oversee the three plants’ operations. The projects were the company’s first assignments outside the UK, it noted.
Anesco has developed over 100 solar and 30 battery storage projects since it was set up in 2010. The British firm is currently responsible for the operations and maintenance (O&M) of more than 24,000 renewable energy plants.
