The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) proudly recognizes and congratulates all recipients of the 2021 Industry Leadership Awards. CGA recognized the recipients in three categories: Excellence and Innovation in Customer Care and Service; Environmental Stewardship (Operating Practices and Innovation in Emissions Reduction); and Young Business Leaders.
The Michael Mulcahy Award for Excellence and Innovation in Customer Care and Service was awarded to all workers in the gaseous energy delivery industry in Canada; distribution and transmission staff; and suppliers of essential goods and services to the industry for their exceptional service to Canadians throughout the pandemic. The award was accepted by a few workers from FortisBC on behalf of all industry workers.
SaskEnergy was awarded the Environmental Stewardship Award for Operating Practices for their Environmental Screening Tool, a web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) tool that allows operational and engineering teams throughout the company to pre-screen distribution projects for environmental, heritage, and geohazard impacts. SaskEnergy was also awarded the Environmental Stewardship Award for Innovation in Emissions Reductions for their Vented Gas Capture project and their DSM Portfolio Expansion. The Vented Gas Capture is an innovative technology that utilizes vented hydrocarbons as a supplementary fuel source for natural gas engines. Through their DSM Portfolio Expansion, SaskEnergy expanded the size and scope of its energy efficiency programs to reach more homes and businesses.
The Young Business Leader of the Year Award was awarded to Ana Villareal Escudero (TC Energy), Ryan Organ (Enbridge Gas Inc.), Alireza Kohandehghan (Pacific Northern Gas), John Salazar (TC Energy), and Lindsay Drozdiak (TC Energy).
