20% increase in natural gas prices

    May 25, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

Piedras Negras, Coah.- Due to the conflicts of the Russia-Ukraine war, the price of natural gas increased, for which the general manager of the National Gas Company (Conagas) Morris Libson, announced that the acquisition price for Piedras Negras users will be affected by 20 percent.

He explained that the issue of the international gas index is worldwide, since it is a situation of international factors that affect the price of gas, especially in South Texas, which is the index that governs them.

First, the Ukraine's war with Russia, the situation that they stopped supplying gas from Russia, they stopped buying from Russia and Russia provides 10 percent of the world's gas, so now they are supplying gas from the United States to there", he explained.

On the other hand, he added that the increase in generation uses natural gas to generate energy in Mexico and in Mexico 85 percent of the natural gas required is imported and all this puts pressure on the price.

As you know, the price of the molecule is only a part of the final price, the distribution tariff also goes there, we are going to see an increase of approximately 15 or 20 percent", acknowledged Libson.

The Conagas manager asked users for their understanding, as this increase is expected to be only for a few months, while the supply situation is being regularized.
