Freeport LNG provided an update on an 8 Jun 2022 incident that occurred at its liquefaction facility on Quintana Island, TX, US, which resulted in the release of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and subsequent fire. The incident occurred in pipe racks that support the transfer of LNG from the facility's LNG storage tank area to the terminal's dock facilities located in the intracoastal side of Freeport LNG's dock basin. There were no injuries, or threat to the surrounding community, and none of the liquefaction trains, LNG storage tanks, dock facilities or LNG process areas were impacted. Preliminary observations suggest that the incident resulted from an overpressure and rupture of a segment of an LNG transfer line. Further investigation is underway. Currently, completion of all necessary repairs and a return to full plant operations is not expected until late 2022. Partial operations are targeted to resume in about 90 days.
