Entergy releases bill assistance application information

September 21, 2022 - Courtney Pedersen, The Beaumont Enterprise, Texas

Sep. 21—Entergy customers can apply for bill assistance next week.

The company is partnering with United Way of Greater Houston in collaboration with other nearby United Way branches to offer a $150 bill credit to qualifying customers on a first-come, first-served basis.

An online application for the $150 credit will be open at 9 a.m. Sept. 27 on the United Way of Greater Houston's website.

Customers can apply via computer or mobile phone. However, a cell phone is required to get an access code in order to verify the account setup, according to an Entergy news release.

"Temperatures are up, the cost of natural gas is up, so Entergy Texas is ramping up our bill assistance efforts to ensure customers continue to have access to affordable power," said President and CEO of Entergy Texas Eliecer "Eli" Viamontes in the release. "By listening to our customers and staying engaged with our communities, we can provide meaningful solutions to Texas families in need of extra help."

Although the $150 bill credit is focused on low-to-moderate household income customers, all Entergy Texas residential customers are able to apply, according to the release.

"To qualify, customers must have a total household income of up to 250% of the federal poverty level, which equates to $69,000 for a family of four," the release said.
