Oil and gas company inks HQ lease at new Memorial City office building

September 22, 2022 - Katherine Feser, Houston Chronicle

Sep. 22—BW Energy USA Management will relocate its headquarters to a prime space in 9753 Katy Freeway, a nine-story office development of Houston-based MetroNational in Memorial City.

The company, which signed a lease for 68,000 square feet, will occupy the top three floors of the 190,000-square-foot building, MetroNational announced. The company is division of Oslo-based oil and gas company BW Energy. Move-in is planned in September of 2023.

"As our organization continues to rapidly grow, moving to 9753 Katy Freeway is a significant opportunity to reinforce our excellent company culture, and enhance recruiting and retention," Lin Espey, chief operating officer at BW Energy USA Management, said in a statement. "We look forward to working with MetroNational to provide the best work environment for our employees at this modern, primely located office building."

Last month, MetroNational marked a construction milestone with the topping out of 9753 Katy Freeway. The Kirksey-designed building, which was paused for more than two years during the pandemic after breaking ground in late 2019, is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2023. Office tenants will be next to the Lawn green space for relaxing and events, plus restaurants, retail, residences and hotels in Memorial City.

MetroNational owns and will manage the building as part of its 10 million-square-foot Memorial City campus.

Brad MacDougall and Warren Alexander of MetroNational represented the landlord. Griff Bandy of Partners represented the tenant.
