Poland's capacity to receive gas supplies stands at 21 bcm per year starting 2023 - dep ClimMin

    September 28, 2022 - Zylinska Julita

"[Poland's] gas supplies capacity will reach 21 bcm from 2023, which secures our needs at the moment," Dziadzio said, adding that gas consumption in Poland is falling on households and industry savings driven by high prices: "Our gas usage is now lower by 40%."

Poland has full gas storages, stable gas production from own deposits, necessary contracts on LNG supplies, operational LNG terminal in Swinoujscie and gas interconnectors, including the one with Slovakia that will be launched soon, he enumerated.

"We will soon intensify our preparations [to build] a floating LNG terminal in Gdansk, so we are safe when it comes to gas supplies," he declared.

In January-July 2022 the average gas consumption in Poland reached 9.3 bcm, down by 14% y/y, according to the presentation showed by the deputy minister. In August alone the consumption stood at 0.64 bcm, which means a 39.6% y/y decrease, while in September 1-21 gas consumption slumped by 36% y/y to 0.48 bcm.
