US renewables developer Pattern Energys only ever CEO Mike Garland is due to retire and be replaced by the companys current chief development officer.
Hunter Armistead who worked at oil and gas giant Conoco-Phillips, California-based power company Edison Mission Energy and investment firm Babcock & Brown before joining Pattern when it was formed in 2009 will take over as CEO from 1 January 2023.
He said: Pattern began with a modest pipeline, a few dedicated professionals, and a vision to accelerate the worlds energy transition. To see Pattern and our industry evolve into what we have become has been a beautiful ride and is one that has only just begun.
Garland has led Pattern since 2009, when it was set up following a management buyout from Babcock & Brown, retaining B&Bs North American energy development team and its development pipeline.
Canada Pension Plan Investment Board-owned Pattern was founded with no operational assets, just a development pipeline. It has an operating portfolio of nearly 6GW of renewables capacity in the US, Canada, Japan and Mexico.
