YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Sakhalin Energy, the operator of the Sakhalin-2 project's liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant, produced 11.5 million tonnes of LNG and 3.7 million tonnes of oil in 2022, the company said.
"In 2022 the company exceeded the plan and produced about 11.5 million tonnes of LNG and about 3.7 million tonnes of Sakhalin Blend crude oil. All the product was delivered to buyers on time and in complete compliance with purchase-sale contracts. The main markets were Japan, China, South Korea and Indonesia for liquefied natural gas and China, South Korea and Japan for the oil," the company said.
Sakhalin Energy began normal hydrocarbon production and deliveries on schedule in 2023 and the first oil and LNG shipments have been delivered to buyers in the Asia-Pacific region, the company said.
It was reported earlier that the former operator of Sakhalin-2 exported 10.4 million tonnes of LNG and 4.2 million tonnes of oil in 2021.
The plant shut down for major scheduled maintenance in 2021, which enabled it to reduce the amount of maintenance that had to be done in 2022.
