BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas in 2022, Trend reports via the company.
According to the company, the growth in gas production was 2.7 percent compared to 2021.
"The growth rate of gas production amounted to 6.6 percent in Azerbaijan, or up to 46.7 billion cubic meters. Natural gas exports increased by 19.3 percent to 22.4 billion cubic meters," SOCAR noted.
In addition, during the reporting period, SOCAR's gas exports to Georgia increased by 22.2 percent and amounted to 1.4 billion cubic meters.
"More than 13.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas were consumed in the country in 2022, which is 4.4 percent more than in 2021," the oil company added.
Azerbaijan exported more than 18.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2022, which is 5.4 percent, or 1.08 billion cubic meters, less than in 2021. The value of exported Azerbaijani gas amounted to almost $14.9 billion, which is 2.7 times, or $9.4 billion, more than in 2021 ($5.5 billion).
