Smart Grid Implementations Continue to Evolve Say VASS Solutions Experts

    January 25, 2016 - January 26, 2016, Atlanta, GA

Utilities have successfully deployed AMI solutions; now those investments are becoming the foundation for new efforts that can yield additional, incremental benefits for both customers and utilities. Just in time for Distributech 2016, VASS Solutions announces the release of its latest white papers highlighting these significant “DAY2” opportunities.

“Distributech is the largest and single most important opportunity for utilities to learn about smart grid applications and how these can benefit their customers,” said Scott Stein, VASS Solutions President. “At Distributech there are numerous opportunities to expound upon successful AMI implementations, proclaiming and enabling the incremental customer and utility benefits of the smart grid. Many utilities which have invested in smart grid have now started to focus on new opportunities, referred to collectively as “DAY2,” that leverage their foundational AMI and smart grid investments.

In VASS Solutions’ DAY2 white papers, Mark Michaels, Executive Vice President, discusses the life cycle planning necessary to ensure the sustained success of a smart grid implementation. Jeff Evans, Executive Consultant, discusses the transformation of data into practical information that benefits both utility and customer.

Utilities have made and continue to make significant investments in smart grid. The implementation of these projects, typically, is a focused, all-encompassing effort resulting in a functional system which becomes “operational.” But the ‘smart grid story’ is just getting started. Life cycle planning provides the process for the next phase and will ensure, power and sustain ultimate success.

Perhaps the most influential DAY2 opportunity is offered by the implementation of data analytics. AMI and smart grid investments have produced volumes of new data. Data alone, however, does not provide value to a utility or its customers. Data analytics provides the vehicle by which data is transformed into information that benefits both the utility and its customers.
