Hundreds of Utility Industry Executives Convene at Aclara's 8th Annual Client Conference

    March 22, 2016 - SAN ANTONIO, Texas - March 22, 2016

More than 700 executives and key personnel representing gas, electric and water utilities around North America will gather at the 8th Annual Aclara Client Conference, which opens today at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter in picturesque San Antonio, and runs through March 24. Aclara, based in St. Louis, Mo., is a world-class supplier of smart infrastructure technologies to water, gas and electric utilities globally.

Growing in size and stature every year, the Aclara Client Conference, attended by representatives of all three utility industry sectors, is one of the largest user conferences in the US. Attendees, who include C-level executives as well as mid-level managers from finance through operations, will learn about how Aclara is turning smart infrastructure solutions into reality, as well as its latest developments in Aclara’s advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), radio-frequency (RF) cellular, consumer engagement and electric metering solutions.

This year’s program is centered on a comprehensive schedule of training and technical sessions that explore Aclara’s growing portfolio of advanced products and services. Highlights include the popular demonstration center, where Aclara will showcase its products and services. These include Aclara’s latest smart infrastructure solutions for the Synergize™ RF network, fault detection and localization, cellular and power-line communications, AMI gas pressure monitoring, and leak detection. Also featured are the Aclara Adaptive Consumer Engagement (Aclara ACE™) and iiDEAS platforms, which form the basis for a wide range of programs that generate consistent and measurable results for behavioral energy efficiencycustomer self-service and smart grid solutions.

Allan Connolly, Aclara’s president and CEO, will open the conference with an overview of company developments, including the recent acquisition of the GE electric meters business that has effectively doubled Aclara’s size, and its recently awarded contract with Consolidated Edison Company of NY, Inc. and Orange and Rockland (O&R) Utilities, Inc., to supply electric smart meters that will connect 3.9 million customers to a landmark AMI system.

Keynote speaker Adam Savage, co-host of the Discovery Channel’s popular and long-running series MythBusters, will speak and conduct a question and answer session on the topic of Finding New Conclusions. His thought-provoking presentation will examine how significant world discoveries have been made as the result of asking questions and embracing the unknown with curiosity.

For the second year, the Aclara Client Conference also includes an invitation-only Smart Infrastructure Summit where industry insiders will convene to discuss the future of smart infrastructure and how to plan for it. A one-day C-Suite strategic forum, the summit brings together electric, gas and water utility executives with policymakers, regulators and other thought leaders to focus on the latest developments in innovation, business development, cyber security and more.

Presenters at this year’s Smart Infrastructure Summit are Dr. Karen Wayland, deputy director of state and local cooperation, U.S. Department of Energy; Greg DiLoreto, P.E., P.LS., D. WRE, chair of the ASCE 2017 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure; Mark Bristow, chief, ICS-CERT team incident response, managing industrial control systems cyber risk, U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Cybersecurity and Communications Center; and Ben Bixby, director, energy and enterprise, Nest Labs.
