ScottMadden Announces New Rates & Regulation Practice Leader

    July 10, 2020 - ScottMadden, Inc.

ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading management consulting firms specializing in energy and shared services, is pleased to announce that Jim Stephens, partner at ScottMadden, will be the firm’s new Rates & Regulation practice leader.

Jim joined ScottMadden in 2016 with nearly 30 years of experience in the industry, holding senior management positions at economic-consulting firms, local distribution companies, and a retail energy marketer. He has assisted numerous clients in the United States and Canada with regulatory strategy development and implementation, resource portfolio assessment and optimization, integrated resource planning and demand forecasting, hedging and risk management, and energy infrastructure evaluation. Through his career, he has also provided expert testimony in numerous proceedings at various jurisdictions, including federal, state, and provincial regulatory agencies.

Brad Kitchens, president and CEO of ScottMadden shared, “We’re fortunate to have great depth within our partner group; as such, Jim brings substantial experience to the table, both from senior roles in the energy industry and consulting. Since joining the firm, Jim has expanded the firm’s offerings and expertise in regulatory strategy, utility ratemaking, and energy market assessments. I very much look forward to working with Jim to grow our capabilities under his leadership.”

Jim notes, “Given the breadth and depth of experience and expertise in the Rates & Regulation practice, including regulatory strategy and policy assessment, rate case management, expert reports and testimony with respect to various components of regulatory/rate applications, and detailed assessments of energy market demand and supply drivers together with ScottMadden’s long-standing expertise in utility operations, business process design, and complex financial analysis, the Rates & Regulation practice will continue to provide clients, including investor-owned electric, gas, water utilities, and municipal and cooperative utilities, with a unique and comprehensive approach to developing and executing commercial and regulatory strategy.”
