Experts Discuss Challenges Facing Utility IT as a Result of the Pandemic

    August 21, 2020 - 8/21/2020

Cloud-based disaster recovery service has unique application to latest concerns.

The pandemic has accelerated digital transformation projects across the energy and infrastructure sector, with many utilities successfully launching new online initiatives and services. But despite the initial success, utilities may face major set backs to future digital projects, with cybersecurity risks and reduced revenue a key concern.

An upcoming webinar by FuseForward acknowledges these challenges, while demonstrating easy, affordable steps utilities can take to kick start their digital transformation projects. The session will outline how a cloud-based disaster recovery service (CloudEndure, an AWS company) can be used as an easy first step towards cloud migration. It will also highlight ways the service can be used to tackle cyber security concerns and budgetary cuts.

“The pandemic forced rapid digital innovation on the energy sector, and they responded with flying colours,” says Mark Damm, Founder and CEO of FuseForward.
“But we need to acknowledge the challenges the industry continues to face, including the extreme risk of a cyberattack and shrinking budgets. Despite these challenges utilities have no choice but to continue launching new digital services and products–in fact their future depends on it.”

The session features presentations from experts across cloud computing and disaster recovery, including FuseForward Solution Engineer Ray Jung and Chris Franco from CloudEndure, an AWS company.

The session will also address business continuity for enterprise applications. This is a growing concern for many in the energy and infrastructure sector, recently highlighted by natural disasters and fires in both the US and Canada.
