CEO of Alden Systems Joins the Energy Central Power Perspectives Podcast to Discuss Data Tools and Needs for Utilities

    February 12, 2021 - 2/11/2021

John Sciarabba, the CEO of Alden Systems, recently stopped by to share valued insights on how data collection, processing, and use is rapidly changing the utility industry today. In an exclusive podcast interview with Podcast Host Jason Price and Energy Central Community Manager Matt Chester, John draws on his 20+ year career in data software and decision-making to highlight the revolution taking place in this regard for utility leaders across the world.

Having long ago established himself as a thought leader in how all companies, not just utilities but also telecom, broadband, and wireless providers, can better prioritize the collection and use of data, John's insights into the state of the industry are crucial for those unsure about their data strategy at this critical moment in the utility sector. When asked by podcast host Jason Price about how to motivate those lagging in the industry, John's words strike true:

"The first thing that I would say to someone who's slow to move is change is inevitable, struggle is optional. Even if you're moving forward, if the change around you is moving faster, then you're falling behind. Most of us have our personal lives digitized on the smartphone in our pocket. We're the same consumers, colleagues, staff, and supervisors that show up to the utility every day. Why would our expectations there be any different? Our job is to provide the infrastructure that literally powers our communities and enables them to prosper. We have to evolve to deliver on that responsibility."

The full episode of the Energy Central Power Perspectives Podcast with John Sciarabba is sure to draw much attention of the forward-looking power provider who recognizes the treasure trove of data they may be sitting upon but don't know how to embrace it. John serves as a great voice to motivate and inspire action, and this episode will bring about much-needed conversation across the industry.

The episode, along with a full transcript, can be found on all major podcast outlets, including iTunes and Spotify, or it can be listened to directly on the Energy Central platform. Give it a listen and share your reaction in the comments.
