The head of the national trade association representing competitive power suppliers welcomed Tuesday's Senate vote to confirm Willie L. Phillips, Jr. as the newest member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Todd Snitchler, president and CEO of the Electric Power Supply Association, EPSA, issued the following statement.
"FERC plays an essential role in the ability of Americans to access affordable and reliable energy, as well as in power suppliers' ability to compete to provide the best solutions for the nation's power grid. We are pleased to see it restored to a full bench of commissioners.
"Commissioner Phillips made clear in his confirmation hearing that he is committed to safeguarding reliability, which is more important than ever.
"We encourage him to continue to support competition in wholesale electricity markets, as it is the best foundation to deliver the innovation needed to advance the energy transition while preserving reliability and cost-effective solutions.
"EPSA and our members look forward to working with Commissioner Phillips and his colleagues as we provide the infrastructure needed for a reliable, affordable and cleaner grid."
