December 7 (Renewables Now) - Marine contractor Jan de Nul has secured the contract from Swedish utility Vattenfall AB to transport and install 41 turbines for the 350-MW Vesterhav Nord & Syd offshore wind farm project off the coast of Denmark.
The scope of the contract includes the transport and installation of the 8.4-MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, the design, engineering, manufacturing, procurement and delivery of the sea-fastening, Jan de Nul said.
The company will deploy its jack-up installation vessel Vole au vent for this project. It will also have to create the Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) for the wind turbine transport and installation.
The Vesterhav Nord & Syd offshore wind complex, featuring its Nord and Syd sub-sections, will be located in the eastern part of the Danish North Sea.
Vattenfall secured a year ago the Danish Energy Agency’s approval to launch construction of the two Vesterhav wind farms. The complex is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023.
