Sweden: Vattenfall CEO calls for large-scale wind power investment

    December 7, 2021 - M-Brain Nordic News

Anna Borg, CEO at Swedish energy company Vattenfall, argues that large-scale wind power investment will be needed to meet climate targets and increased electricity demand. She believes that the veto right in municipalities, and the considering of interests in the Swedish Armed Forces should be limited in wind power development approval. Areas favourable for wind farms should also be highlighted by county boards and municipalities according to Borg. She has also proposed ten measures for speeding up electrification in an opinion piece in Dagens Nyheter. She says permit processes need to be shortened, while there should be clearer guidance on conflicts between the interests of the Armed Forces and environmental interests.
