Planning Consent Granted For GBP2.5bn Battery Manufacturing Gigafactory In UK

News: West Midlands Gigafactory, a joint venture between the Coventry City Council and Coventry Airport, has secured planning consent from the Warwick District Council and Coventry City Council to build a GBP2.5bn (USD3.4bn) giga factory in the UK. The 530,000sq m factory will be supported by solar photovoltaic arrays. Subject to approval of the proposal and conclusion of legal matters, an outline planning permission is due to be issued in March 2022. The facility is expected to be ready for production in 2025, while complete operations are planned to start by the end of 2030, according to the project's website.
