Prices rise in German tender for rooftop solar

    January 17, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

January 17 (Renewables Now) - Germany has selected 136 proposals in its latest tender for rooftop solar installations with prices rising substantially to EUR 0.074 (USD 0.08) per kWh and awarded 148 MW in the country's first auction for biomethane-powered plants.

The second round of the tender for solar systems on buildings or noise barriers of over 300 kW was significantly oversubscribed, attracting 209 offers with a combined capacity of 233 MW, the Federal Network Agency said on Friday.

The winning proposals have an output of 154 MW with offers from the state of Saxony-Anhalt accounting for 34 MW of the total followed by Brandenburg and Lower Saxony.

The volume-weighted average price rose from EUR 0.069 per kWh in the previous round and bids ranged from EUR 0.057 to EUR 0.083 per kWh.

As many as 38 bids were excluded from the tender due to formal errors.

The first auction for plants powered by biomethane was open to proposals with a capacity of 151 kW to 20 MW. A total of 21 offers with a capacity of 148 MW were submitted which was slightly below the targeted volume of 150 MW. The bids were between EUR 0.169 and EUR 0.189 per kWh with the volume-weighted average price standing at EUR 0.178 per kWh. All bids were approved.

The next auctions for rooftop solar systems and biomethane plants will take place on April 1 and October 1, respectively.

      (EUR 1 = USD 1.145)
