    SNE announces green hydrogen roadmap

    January 19, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

Panama is emerging as a global green hydrogen route for the region, in view of the commitment to decarbonization and energy transition, announced the National Energy Secretariat (SNE).

Green hydrogen is generated from renewable sources and energy and serves as a fuel that does not produce CO2, the greenhouse gas emitted by most fossil fuels when burned.

"Hydrogen constitutes a commercial opportunity for the country and the region, in a market with expectations of development of new technologies; in addition, it will allow decarbonizing other sectors of the economy, such as industry, agriculture, land and air transportation, supporting the fulfillment of the objectives of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of the Panamanian State", expressed the National Secretary of Energy, Jorge Rivera Staff.

Work has been carried out in studies and previous analysis to create a regulatory framework, promote dialogue with the industry, with the countries of the region, create the necessary infrastructure, establish alliances with global market players, among others.
