Finland: Research permits granted for three offshore wind farm projects

In Finland, the Government has granted research permits for three offshore wind power projects. Wpd Finland, part of German developer and operator of wind and solar farms Wpd, and OX2 Finland, part of Swedish wind farm developer OX2, were granted research permits for the same research area west of Jakobstad. In addition, OX2 Finland received a research permit for the research area west of Hailuoto.

The Government will make a decision on who will implement the offshore wind farm in the research area after the environmental impact assessment (EIA) has been completed. The projects also require a permit in accordance with the Water Act.
