Wind power accounts for around 11% of electricity consumption in Norway, and planned projects are often controversial. Trade association Norwea believes people's attitudes are changing following the high electricity prices this winter. According to calculations, wind power contributed to a reduction in electricity bills of individual households by between NOK 2,000 (EUR 202.06 USD 233.52) and NOK 4,500 in 2021. If Norway had no wind power production, the electricity price would have been around NOK 0.18 per kWh higher in Mid-Norway and Northern Norway, and about NOK 0.08 higher in Southern Norway, according to a report by Thema Consulting for Norwea.
