ALMATY. Jan 25 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - All transmission lines of the 500-kV North-East-South high-voltage transmission system have been switched on, the KEGOC said.
"At 1:39 p.m., the Almaty power hub was synchronized with the UES with complete coverage of all power shortages to consumers. The normal operation of the national electrical network in tow with the Almaty power hub has been fully restored," the operator said.
KEGOC notes that regional power grid companies of Almaty and the Almaty region have fully covered power supply shortages. Efforts to restore power supply to the southern regions continue.
KEGOC said earlier today that the major power outage in Central Asia on Tuesday morning was prompted by a critical misbalance in the Central Asian power system. This prompted the disconnection of southern Kazakhstan from the grid. The amount of load-shedding is about 1,500 MW.
