Power outage of at least three days overwhelms Puerto Rico

    April 11, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

Closed businesses, canceled classes and overwhelming heat is the situation that thousands of Puerto Rico residents have suffered in recent days due to the lack of electric power due to a blackout. A fire at the Costa Sur power plant on Wednesday left two-thirds of the nearly 1.5 million users of the Luma company without power. The private company, which took over transmission and distribution only last year, reported yesterday that 780,000 of its customers had already recovered the supply and was working to complete the one million as soon as possible. Dozens of people have demonstrated in front of its offices, some with spoiled food. In the past nine months, the island of 3.2 million inhabitants has registered at least seven blackouts.Afp Photo, with information from Ap and Europa Press PeriĆ³dico La Jornada
