The 15 companies associated to Acolgen, the Colombian Association of Electric Power Generators, are developing from 2019 until 2025 investments for $13 billion, announced its president Natalia Gutiérrez.
Speaking at Acolgen's 14th Annual Energy Congress, the leader stressed: "The electricity sector has been transcendental for the sustainable development of the country, being now one of the fundamental axes for the reactivation of the Colombian economy, being responsible for an important part of the generation of employment, welfare and progress in all regions". He also said that "in the last 30 years Colombia has not had a single minute of electricity shortage. It is the only country in the region that has not suffered blackouts in these decades. We have a safer and more reliable electricity sector. We have the electrical matrix with the highest proportion of renewable sources in the world. Hydroelectric sources stand out with 70%.
