    Engie to postpone phasing down of fossil fuel utilities

      Engie has agreed with the government requirement to postpone for six months the phasing down of the 14 and 15 coal fed units of the power generating utilities at Tocopilla in order to prevent damaging impact of the drought and have security in the electric power supply in Chile. Units 14 and 15 at Tocopilla are to be disconnected by end June, and the 1 and 2 units of Mejillones, phasing down 800 Mw of coal fed power capacity. The company is engaged in a transition to renewable power sourcing, adding until 2025 1,000 Mw via investments of Euro$1,500mil.
