VSB Group buys rights to 170-MW hybrid renewables project in Poland

    May 12, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

May 12 (Renewables Now) - German renewables developer VSB Group said today it has acquired the rights to a combined wind energy and photovoltaic (PV) project in southwestern Poland with a planned capacity of up to 170 MW.

The hybrid project will be built on an area of about 120 hectares (296.5 acres) in Lower Silesian Province and will consist of up to ten wind turbines of the 7 MW class and a solar park of up to 100 MWp.

With the help of an external partner, VSB will prepare for the construction of the park in the coming months with the ready-to-build stage expected to be reached by the end of 2023.

“The combination of wind energy and photovoltaic park will get the maximum yield out of the area. With regard to the 10H distance rule in Poland, we are confident that the upcoming positive changes will give us additional impetus to make this project a success,” said Hubert Kowalski, Managing Director of VSB Energie Odnawialne Polska sp. z o.o.

The Dresden-based renewables developer has already put into operation around 76 MW of installed capacity and serviced over 600 MW in Poland. The construction of the Baranow-Rychtal wind farm with a capacity of 42.6 MW is currently underway with commissioning scheduled for 2023.
