    Freshfields advises Global Infrastructure Partners on the acquisition of offshore wind-farm developer

      Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Global Infrastructure Partners (‘GIP’) on the acquisition of wpd offshore GmbH from wpd AG. As a leading offshore project developer and independent renewables power producer (IRPP), wpd offshore GmbH is active in various European and Asia-Pacific markets.

      May 11 -- Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer issued the following news release:

      Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Global Infrastructure Partners (‘GIP’) on the acquisition of wpd offshore GmbH from wpd AG. As a leading offshore project developer and independent renewables power producer (IRPP), wpd offshore GmbH is active in various European and Asia-Pacific markets.

      With this investment, GIP further expands its renewables portfolio, noting offshore wind will be critical to net zero carbon targets and energy transition goals. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

      The Freshfields team was led by Global Transactions Partners Natascha Doll (Hamburg) and Patrick Ko (London) and included Counsel Mirko Masek, Principal Associate Carsten Bork, Associates Aleksandar Atanasov, Panagiota Kavvada and Cosmas Weigel (all Hamburg) as well as Partners Richard Lister (London) and Torsten Schreier (Frankfurt), Counsel Tomoko Nakajima (Tokyo), Principal Associate Stefan Bajohr (Düsseldorf), Associates Oscar Berry and Alexandra Sims (both London), Associates Ethan Donovan and Takahiro Sato (both Tokyo), Associate Nora Chekhab (Paris), Tainá Moreira de Araújo (Frankfurt, all Global Transactions).
