Greenalia advances on 50-MW floating wind project in Spain

    May 12, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

May 12 (Renewables Now) - Spanish forestry and energy group Greenalia SA (BME:GRN) announced that it has finalised the geophysical campaign for its 50 MW PE Gofio floating offshore wind project in the home country.

The study was conducted off the coast of San Bartolome de Tirajana, Canary Islands, where Greenalia expects to install its first floating wind scheme in Spain, the company said on Wednesday.

It said that it now knows more about the seabed's biodiversity, which will enable it to proceed with the design of the floating structures with greater precision.

The geophysical study was carried out by Canary Islands-based firm ECOS.

The Canary Islands government hopes that some 310 MW of floating wind farms will be developed off its coasts by 2025. Greenalia's pipeline features around 250 MW of floating wind projects set for the Atlantic Ocean islands.
