IG Windkraft wants four times more wind turbines for Salzburg

    May 12, 2022 - APA EconomicNews Service

The plans of the Salzburg state government to set up at least 25 wind turbines at three to four locations in the state by 2030 do not go far enough for IG Windkraft. The state is on the right track, but the interest group called for a significantly higher number of areas and wind turbines and faster approval processes at a press conference in Salzburg on Thursday. Otherwise, the climate neutrality that the country is aiming for by 2050 will not be achievable.

"By 2030 there could be 100 wind turbines in Salzburg," said Stefan Moidl, Managing Director of IG Windkraft. With a production of 1.5 TWh of electricity, these could cover around two-thirds of the energy volume of Salzburg's gas requirements.
