According to the Energy Information Association’s most recent Oklahoma State Profile and Energy Estimates, wind energy accounted for 35% of Oklahoma’s in-state net generation. Oklahoma ranks third in the country in total electricity net generation from wind. “We are proud to have helped Oklahoma diversify its energy mix over the last ten years with our Dempsey Ridge Wind Farm and our Red Hills Wind Farm also located in the Sooner State.” said Castillo.

ACCIONA Energía contributes to the local economies with the two wind farms by providing 26 full-time local jobs. Additionally, the company is an active partner in the community.

The Dempsey Ridge Wind Farm has a long history of supporting the Cheyenne Public School District’s Generous Kids Project which provides winter coats, gloves and warm clothing to students in need. Employees from the wind farm support the district’s Generous Kids Program every year. “Because of the ongoing health and economic crisis these last two years, the need for assistance has been greater than in recent past.” said Whitney Moore, Principal of Cheyenne High School. “We are thankful for the donation in addition to our other sponsors that help make this project possible. Each year we provide winter clothing and coats for over 35 children in need in our school district."

ACCIONA Energía owns and operates 10 wind farms in the United States, totaling more than 1GW of wind capacity and the 64MW Nevada Solar One concentrated solar power facility. The company also has a portfolio of four solar plants under development that will increase the capacity of solar and wind production to more than 2GW.
