L&L Partners goes green; sets up Environment, Social and Governance practice

    May 16, 2022 - Bar & Bench

The firm has partnered with organizations like EQ Magazine, India Wind Energy Forum, and Renewable Watch, where it shares insights for a sustainable future.

L&L Partners has set up an Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) practice and a 'Green Project' committee to integrate its business strategies and processes with green initiatives, both internally and externally, and has set a carbon-zero target across all its offices.

The firm has partnered with organizations like EQ Magazine, India Wind Energy Forum, and Renewable Watch, where it shares insights with leading corporates on renewable energy, carbon technologies, and a regulatory regime for a sustainable future.

To build a legacy of giving back, as envisioned by Founder and Managing Partner Rajiv Luthra , the firm started 'The Paani Foundation' with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Kiran Rao. The organization started the project of watershed management with 116 villages in Maharashtra and is now close to over 6,000 villages. As per a press release, these efforts have created over 550 billion litres of water storage capacity in the State.

The firm is actively working on paperless practices, providing a greener environment (through the 'grow trees' initiative), and advice on sustainable projects.

L&L acted on Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA's) 268 crore financial assistance to Blu-Smart Mobility - the first deal under IREDA's scheme, to finance new and emerging technologies that promote and increase the usage of renewable energy in the transport sector . It also advised Neev Fund on their investment in Chakr Innovation, a leading Climate Tech company combating air pollution and KKR-backed Virescent Renewable Energy Trust in India's first ever non-convertible debenture issue in a renewable energy infrastructure investment trust.

Apart from its green initiatives, L&L Partners has increased its total tally with three more partners, eleven associates, and seven professionals in the last couple of months.
