    United Kingdom : Freshfields Advises General Atlantics BeyondNetZero on Its Investment in Sun King

      Freshfields advised BeyondNetZero as lead investor in the $260m Series D funding round of Sun King (formerly Greenlight Planet), the largest provider of solar energy products for off-grid homes in Africa and Asia.

      BeyondNetZero is the climate investing venture of General Atlantic. BeyondNetZeros investment strategy focuses on decarbonization, energy efficiency, resource conservation and emissions management.

      The multi-jurisdictional and cross-practice Freshfields team on the matter involved colleagues from the US, Dubai, London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and China. The team was co-led out of Dubai and New York by Partners Rob Cant and Andrea Merediz Basham, with principal support from Senior Associate Maha Osman and Associates Laura Fruehauf and Umraan Naeem. Further support was provided by Chinyere Obi and Ololade Omisore. Specialist input was provided by Partners Gabriel Mpubani, Victoria Sigeti, Haris Meyer Hanif, Phillip Li, Lori Goodman, Andrew Murphy, Sami Tannous, Nabeel Yousef, Kyle Lakin, Brian Rance, Aimen Mir, Paul van den Berg, Jenn Mellot and Ninette Dodoo, with support from Jennifer Loeb, Tumise Jegede, Tracy Gu, Lingling Wang, Samuel Taylor, Rose Pollard, Lina Zhu, Fan Li, Lacey Nemergut, Tim van Helfteren, Amy Cattle, Hannah Khalifeh, Engie Mohsen, Abhilasha Ashok Vij, Samantha Braunstein, Mia Tsui, Gino Murugesan, Elizabeth Giordano and Tracy Lu.
