Engie's revenues up 85 percent to 25.6 billion euros in the first quarter of 2009

    May 17, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

French energy company Engie recorded a turnover of 25.596 billion euros in the first three months of 2022, which is equivalent to an 85 percent increase compared to the same period last year, it said Tuesday in a statement.

By business segment, the power supply division grew by 72.3 percent to 5.206 billion euros, while the energy solutions business rose by 27.6 percent to 3.184 billion euros.

The energy networks division contracted by 3.1 percent to 2.97 billion euros, while the thermal power generation business posted sales of 1.797 billion euros, up 115 percent. The renewables division grew by 57.9 percent to 1.327 billion euros.

Gross operating profit (Ebitda) was 4,643 million euros, up 49 percent, while net operating profit (Ebit) rose 74 percent to 3,532 million euros. The company explained that these increases were due to higher energy prices during the quarter.

Engie has assured that it has undertaken "multiple actions" in the gas value chain to ensure energy supply. In this regard, the company said that its natural gas hedging positions minimize the risk in the event of a supply disruption.
