Greens want to speed up wind energy development

The Greens are ctiticising the slow pace of development when it comes to wind energy. In Upper Austria, only one new wind turbine has been built in the past six years, only two percent of the potential of 2,300 MW is being used, provincial councilor Stefan Kaineder and party chairman Severin Mayr announced. They call for 100 new wind turbines by 2030 to reach 400 MW. An application submitted to the state parliament calls for a revision of the wind power master plan, which currently only has wind power exclusion zones. However, the Greens think it would be necessary to define priority areas for wind power.
