Linz AG increases electricity prices

Linz AG will increase electricity prices on 1 July. The measure had become necessary due to high procurement costs, the company announced on Tuesday. It is the first tariff increase for existing customers in twelve years. For an average household with an annual consumption of 2,500 kWh, the additional costs amount to EUR 18.44 (USD 19.37660 million) per month, the company calculated. The price increase was delayed as long as possible, stressed energy sales manager Peter Steinberger, but at the moment the company can no longer compensate for the cost pressure. (EUR 1 = USD 1.051)
