May 24 (Renewables Now) - The Chilean ministry of national assets said on Monday that it is now accepting bids for 28 pieces of land suitable for renewable energy development after putting the competition on ice in March.
Bidders have now been given a short time slot to submit their bids via a dedicated online platform -- from May 23 until May 25, according to the ministry’s note.
In this round, the ministry is offering five lots in the region of Arica y Parinacota and 23 lots in Antofagasta under a concession.
The tendering procedure was postponed indefinitely in March just after Chile’s new president Gabriel Boric formed his government and put Javiera Toro to lead the ministry of national assets.
Of the March decision, the ministry said that the land tendering process initiated by the previous administration was placed under a review in order to verify that it responded to the criteria of local development and environmental sustainability.
