IFC To Support Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric Project In Mozambique

News: The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a unit of the World Bank Group, has signed an agreement with the Government of Mozambique to support the development of the USD4.5bn Mphanda Nkuwa mega hydroelectric project. Under the agreement terms, IFC is expected to participate in selection of a partner for the development of the hydroelectric project. The project includes the construction of a dam on the Zambezi River and a 97sq km reservoir. The project also includes the construction of a 1,300km-long high-voltage transmission line between the project site in Tete province and Maputo (Afrik21).
