RWE brings online 16.8-MW Polish wind farm

May 25, 2022 - SeeNews Power Market Review

May 25 (Renewables Now) - German energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE) said on Tuesday it has kicked off commercial operations at its 16.8-MW Rozdrazew wind farm in Poland.

The plant’s commissioning has lifted the company's installed capacity in Poland to 410 MW and extended the number of its operational wind farms in the country to 16.

Located around 80 km southeast of Poznan, the Rozdrazew park is expected to generate enough electricity to cover the annual power demand of more than 27,000 homes. The seven-turbine plant was installed in 14 months.

RWE said it is meanwhile working on the construction of the 7-MW Wierzchlas wind park in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, which is backed by a Contract for Difference (CfD) with the government, and is waiting to get licenses for two other projects totalling 60 MW. As part of its renewables expansion in Poland, the German firm plans to start building a 48-MW wind park this year and add more than 80 MW of solar capacity by the end of 2023.

“Poland is one of our promising markets in Europe, where we want to realise further onshore and offshore projects,” said Katja Wunschel, CEO Onshore Wind und Solar Europe and Australia, RWE Renewables.
