Japan's Shizen signs 10 MWp solar PPA in Malaysia

    May 26, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

May 26 (Renewables Now) - Japanese renewables developer Shizen Energy Inc, through its Malaysian subsidiary, has signed a second long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) tied to a 10-MWp rooftop solar power array for Malaysia's Top Glove Corporation Bhd (KLSE:TOPGLOV).

Under the agreement, Shizen Malaysia will install the photovoltaic (PV) plant on the rooftops of the disposable rubber gloves manufacturer's factories in Peninsular Malaysia, the Japanese firm said today.

The new PV system will increase Top Glove’s total solar capacity to 15.47 MWp from the current 5.34 MWp, allowing the company to offset about 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.

With a presence in several countries, Shizen International has a 136.44-MW portfolio of rooftop and ground-mounted solar as well as wind projects in operation and under construction, according to the developer’s website.
