Pacific Green orders batteries for 99.98-MW storage project in UK

    May 26, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

May 26 (Renewables Now) - Pacific Green Technologies Inc (OTCMKTS:PGTK) on Wednesday said it has signed an agreement with Shanghai Electric Gotion New Energy Technology Co Ltd for the latter to supply the batteries for Pacific Green’s first battery energy park in the UK.

The project is a 99.98-MW energy storage facility in Richborough Energy Park in Kent, England that is scheduled to come online by the middle of 2023. Production and delivery of the battery energy storage system (BESS) will start later in 2022.

The supply agreement is part of a strategic manufacturing framework agreed by the companies last year. Pacific Green says it is developing a 1.1-GW BESS pipeline in the UK.

"We have worked very closely with Shanghai Electric Gotion to develop a battery system specifically optimised for the UK market and we are pleased to place the first order for our 1.1 GW UK pipeline,” said PGTK chief executive Scott Poulter.

Shanghai Electric Gotion, set up in 2017, is a joint venture between Shanghai Electric Group Co Ltd and Guoxuan High-tech Co Ltd.
