May 25 -- RUSNANO Group issued the following news release:
“The ESG agenda remains relevant for Russian business, and a responsible attitude to the environment is of particular importance at the present time. Investment strategies have a long planning horizon of 10 years or more, and the ultimate goal of reducing environmental impact should not change. But, given the current challenges, it may be necessary to adjust the technological vector. A number of technologies, including those in hydrogen energy, can be created in the medium term through development within the country,” said Alisher Kalanov , Head of the Investment Division of RUSNANO Management Company , during his speech at the National Forum on Sustainable Development.
Our investment team has traditionally been engaged in the development of renewable energy sources in Russia and participated in the creation of the largest players in the solar and wind energy segment. In hydrogen energy development will be similar to the RES industry. Hydrogen is a natural extension of the company's low-carbon agenda. In this regard, RUSNANO is engaged in the development of "blue" and "green" hydrogen technologies, complementary renewable energy technologies.
Our work is currently focused on the following areas:
* A project of the RUSNANO-SINTEZ Foundation to create solutions for capturing CO2 in the production of "blue" hydrogen. A plant for the production of special absorbents with a capacity of 15,000 tons is currently under construction, commissioning is scheduled for 2023.
* Joint development of pumping equipment with Novomet Group, which will ensure the injection and long-term storage of CO2 emissions in oil and gas reservoirs. Commercial launch of new production - 2024.
* Creation of hydrogen consumption technologies and the final infrastructure of hydrogen energy - fuel cells, electrochemical generators for transport, as well as hydrogen filling stations.
Also, at the initiative of the company, a working group was formed to develop a comprehensive national program for the development of the low-carbon hydrogen energy industry in the Russian Federation. Now it is being finalized taking into account possible stress tests, the final document will be ready on June 13.
