SSE Secures Planning Permission To Link 800MW Onshore Wind Project Phase II In Ireland

News: Ireland's national independent planning organisation, An Bord Pleanála, has granted planning permission to SSE Renewables' subsidiary Sure Partners to develop the necessary onshore grid infrastructure to establish connection for the 800MW second phase of the Arklow Bank Wind project in Ireland. The scope of work includes the development of a 220kV substation at Avoca River Business Park in Arklow, with an associated connection from the new substation to the existing national transmission network. Subject to final investment decision, the proposed EUR2.5bn (USD2.6mn) offshore wind energy project is likely to deliver first power in 2028 with completion due in 2029 (reNews).
