MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - Power generation at Russian nuclear power plants (NPPs) in January-May increased by 3.63% over the same period last year to 96.155 billion kWh, Rosenergoatom said in a statement.
Generation amounted to 104.66% of the Federal Antimonopoly Service balance.
Generation in May amounted to more than 18.5 billion kWh.
Operation of all Russian NPPs in 5M 2022 prevented greenhouse gases emissions into the atmospheric air in totaling more than 47 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. The share of electricity generation by nuclear plants in Russia is about 19%, the statement said.
JSC Rosenergoatom includes 11 operating nuclear power plants, including a floating nuclear thermal power plant (FNPP), as well as a scientific and technical center for emergency technical works at nuclear power plants, and design and technological branches. A total of 37 nuclear power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation.
