BAKU. June 2 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani authorities are ready to ensure gas and electric power supplies to the Armenian residential consumers in the Karabakh region within hours using the Azerbaijani domestic infrastructure, Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov said.
"We are technically prepared to do it. If the relevant decision is made, we will be able to start gas supplies within hours. That said, the Armenian people in the Karabakh region will pay less than now," Soltanov said at the Baku Energy Forum on Thursday.
The same applies to power supplies to the Armenian consumers in the Karabakh region, "as these people are deemed to be citizens of Azerbaijan," he said.
Currently, the Armenians living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan receive gas from Armenia.
