Estonia's Sunly, Scener to offer balancing services in Poland

    June 3, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

June 3 (Renewables Now) - Estonian renewable power producer Sunly AS said on Friday that it will start offering balancing services in Poland through its joint venture (JV) with compatriot Scener.

Scener, which specialises in balance management services, and Sunly launched their JV Polscen OU in 2021, and since have been selling power using Sunly’s solar farms in Estonia to the Nord Pool market.

Sunly says the partners are now expanding to Poland where they will provide the same services in the Polish market using the local subsidiary Polscen Sp z.o.o.

Polscen OU is controlled by Scener with a 67% stake, with Sunly owning the remainder. The Polish subsidiary is owned 100% by Polscen OU, Sunly said.

Through Sunly, Scener will gain access to the Polish market, the announcement reads.

“[I]n the beginning we plan to provide balance management services to Sunly’s solar parks and then smoothly expand our services beyond to other companies operating in Polish energy market,” said Kaido Veldemann, the CEO of Scener.
