Speco works at minimum; production halted

    June 3, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

The company Speco, which originally produces wind energy towers, has stopped production and is working with a minimum staff of workers with which they are taking advantage of their facilities to machine parts for different companies in the Central Region, informed councilman Leonardo Hernandez Esparza, who yesterday was in a meeting with Mayor Mario Davila Delgado in addition to the Secretary of Economy, Claudio Bres, who was touring municipalities in the Central Region.

Councilman Leonardo Hernandez Esparza, mentioned that due to the issue of clean energy, the company Speco has stopped the investment in the manufacture of wind towers, when he was questioned regarding comments from citizens that the company located north of Monclova no longer has workers because there is no production and that the only ones still on site are the security guards who are busy cleaning the yard.

"While it is true on the part of the Federal Government, according to the structural reforms one of the affected subjects are the entrepreneurs and companies in the renewable energy sector, Speco produces wind energy towers, production is currently stopped but the company has not closed or left, they are working with a minimum staff and at the moment they are not producing towers but are taking advantage of their installation to make up parts for different companies in the Central Region, that is what is happening," said Hernandez Esparza.

Speco will continue to operate: Councilman

Councilman Leonardo Hernandez mentioned that as Municipal Government they insist on continuing to unblock the issue of renewable energy investments.

"In fact, the Secretary of Economy, Claudio Bres, is here with the Mayor, they are looking at these issues because there are also stopped investments that cannot be made due to the issue of clean energies, because businessmen are not given certainty at the federal level for investment, at least in Mexico," he said.

He reiterated that there is no information that Speco wants to leave the city and rather they will continue to insist that the energy issue can be unblocked so that they can return to production.

"They are working with a minimum staff but they are not leaving, they did not share with us how many workers they are but at least they are with the administrative issue, some production and surveillance.

Are there people working? Yes, are they being paid? Yes. Have people been laid off? Also, but the company is not closing, it continues to operate but they produce other types of parts for companies in the Central Region", he concluded.
